At Northern Roots we are always working to ensure our site and buildings are as accessible as possible.

Getting Around

Paths from the Northern Roots car park to the Welcome Building and Play Area are flat and suitable for wheelchairs, mobility scooters and pushchairs. Paths around Snipe Clough Farm are accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs.

All our public spaces within the Welcome Building are situated on ground level with step free access. This includes the Cafe, Shop, the quiet room, production kitchen and bookable spaces.

Wheelchair Access

Our Café food counter is dropped at the end providing access for visitors in wheelchairs.

Accessible seating is available inside and outside the Welcome Building.

There is a lift in the Forestry Skills Centre providing access to the training and meeting spaces.

Toilets

Accessible toilet facilities are provided in the Welcome Building and Forestry Skills Centre, including a Changing Places toilet fitted with a hoist and bed.

Ablution facilities for Islamic prayer are available in the male and female toilets in the Welcome Building.

Baby & Children Facilities

We have baby changing facilities in the Welcome Building.

Mothers are welcome to breastfeed wherever they want to. Please speak to a member of the Café team who can assist in heating up baby food.

The outdoor Play Area in front of the Welcome Building features accessible play equipment including a seesaw, swing, and water play.

Quiet Space

We have a small, dedicated room in the Welcome Building for anyone wishing to pray, breastfeed or take a moment for quiet reflection.

Dogs

The Eco Park is a great place for a dog walk and we welcome your furry friends across our site.

Well behaved dogs on a short lead are also welcome inside the Shop and Cafe. We ask that you stay with your dog at all times, keep extendable leads on the shortest setting, and respect the preferences of other visitors who may be uncomfortable around dogs.

In Snipe Clough Farm, we welcome well behaved dogs but they must be kept on a short lead at all times. Please pick up after your dog to keep our site tidy.

Service dogs have full access to Northern Roots.
