Open Thursday - Sunday 9:00am - 4:00pm from Saturday 19 September

At the heart of Northern Roots is our Welcome Building. Immersed in nature and flooded with light, it’s a place to gather and relax, eat, shop, meet, learn and explore.

Situated on the edge of a woodland, looking out over Snipe Clough Farm and the foothills of the Peak District, the Welcome Building features a Café, Shop, toilets, a quiet room, a production kitchen and bookable spaces. It’s a creative space putting community and connection first.

Here you’ll be welcomed by a friendly member of our community offering guidance and information to support your visit. You can also find out more about the story of the Northern Roots charity and our ambitions for the future.

While visiting us why not treat yourself to a hot drink, tasty treat or hearty meal from our Café? We use the freshest produce straight from the farm 200 metres away, and turn it into seasonal delights. Food steps, not food miles. Expect soups, stews, pies, cakes and locally made Grandpa Greene’s ice-cream.

You will find cosy sofas within the Café and when the weather is good you can sit out on our terrace.

Our shop stocks everything from seasonal produce and artisan treats to beautiful homeware, books, crafts and children’s toys, all inspired by nature, heritage and community.  Pick up a pot of Hive5 Manchester honey produced on site or unique greeting cards featuring works by local artists.

We also have a small, dedicated room for anyone wishing to pray, breastfeed or take a quiet moment.

And adjacent to our Welcome Building you can find our outdoor amphitheatre. The perfect spot to sit with a picnic and watch the world go by.
