Take some time to slow down, rest and prepare for the winter months with Winterise, a three hour morning session with Ed and Jane Craggs.

This session draws on three long-established traditions: yoga (specifically the deeply restful kind), Ayurveda (a system of everyday self-care from India), and folk medicine (the kind of thing your grandmother knew). Nothing exotic, just useful, practical ways to prepare your body, mind and immune system for the darker month.

The session includes:

Deep guided rest — a long, quiet relaxation practice.

Warm oil self-massage — a soothing daily routine for colder weather. Demonstration with option to try yourself.

Nasal rinsing and saltwater gargle — a gentle daily way to clear the airways and help keep winter bugs at bay. Demonstration with option to try yourself in bathroom.

Fiery immune tonic — a traditional herbal winter tonic to taste, with the recipe to take home.

Candle gazing — a short, quiet practice for long dark evenings.

Tips to take away – A few simple ways to let winter be a time of rest rather than pushing through.

Ideal for anyone who finds the shift into winter hard, those recovering from a busy autumn, people managing tiredness or long-term health conditions, and anyone curious about rest as a real practice rather than an occasional treat. No experience of anything on the list is needed.

We invite people to share any relevant health information (pregnancy, recent surgery, back conditions, or anything mental-health-related) so we can offer appropriate positions and check in during the session. Please email info@northern-roots.uk to inform us or connect with Jane and Ed on the day.

The fiery immune tonic tasting includes vinegar, garlic, ginger, chilli and horseradish, and is non-alcoholic. On the day please inform us of any allergies.
