Jane Craggs is a Manchester based yoga teacher creating accessible yoga for all. Expect yoga classes, workshops, courses & one-to-one therapy sessions here at Northern Roots.

Jane Craggs is a yoga teacher, yoga therapist and teacher trainer who has taught in an around Greater Manchester for many years. She describes herself as a ‘yoga responder’.

Her sessions are built around the person in front of her, tailoring practices that can be integrated into each individual’s current life situation.

Jane runs community yoga classes and workshops open to all, courses for people managing chronic health conditions, and one-to-one yoga therapy sessions.

“Living just around the corner from Northern Roots, I have been in conversation with them since the project started to take shape, and I’m delighted to be joining the team to integrate yoga and mindfulness alongside their brilliant Natural Health Service. Delivering this work to the people of Oldham and beyond will be a privilege.” Jane Craggs

So what makes Jane’s sessions different?

Decades of experience across diverse populations, including adults with additional needs, women in recovery, cancer
survivors and people living with HIV, have equipped her to respond appropriately to whoever comes into the space.

For yoga teachers, Jane offers yoga therapy training and mentoring, drawing on ten years as board and faculty for a UK teacher training programme, and over 16 years of study with the Mohan family in India.

Jane has been teaching for almost three decades, including creating Yogaspace, Manchester’s first independent yoga studio in 2001, Manchester Yoga Shala, a community-led yoga collective, and 12 years teaching yoga in prisons.

“I always leave Jane’s sessions feeling held, supported and uplifted. I find her calm energy and
compassion incredibly healing and her ability to support me in accessing the quality and feeling of a pose helps me to get out of my head and into my body.”

“Having been taught by Jane for ten years I can say Jane is so kind and nurturing. She takes
extra time to make sure you’re comfortable with every part of the lesson. I love every practice I do with her and never fail to feel better, calmer and stronger at the end of it. Highly recommend for beginners and experienced alike.”

“Jane is an incredible yoga teacher and educator. Authentic, compassionate, thorough to the traditions of yoga, and yet brings her own creativity and research
to it all. You will be inspired if you spend even a little bit of time practising with Jane!”

Details of Jane’s community yoga classes, courses and workshops at Northern Roots will be confirmed later this year.

Jane is also one half of Common Ground, a new wellbeing project she’s developing with Ed Wilkinson-Moss of Space to Thrive. Jane and Ed are working up ideas to bring to Northern Roots – watch this space.
