Looking for unique, hand-crafted, locally produced gifts? Want to support small businesses and artists? Our first ever Meet the Makers at Northern Roots brings together some of the small businesses based onsite at Northern Roots, such as Yggdrasil Forge and Common Cloth, and some of the local makers we stock in our Shop, including Glimpsing Light and Northern Spoon Crafts.
Glimpsing Light – paper-cuts, illustrations and prints, all hand-drawn and hand-printed with care.
Common Cloth CIC – naturally made dyes for dying cloth, botanical inks, solar dye kits, scarves, baby-grows and naturally-dyed yarn, all made and produced locally.
Anneli Makes – handmade jewellery and gifts, specialising in lasercut wood and polymer clay creations.
Hive5Manchester – honey, beeswax candles and beekeeping courses and experiences.
Northern Spoon Crafts – hand carved spoons and other items all skilfully made using traditional hand tools, using ethically sourced and recycled, local wood.
Yggdrasil Forge – hooks, pendants, key rings, bottle openers, coffee scoops and more, all hand-forged from recycled metal, using traditional forging methods.
Come and meet the makers and have a chat about what they do. Some of our Makers will be running workshops and events at Northern Roots in 2027, such as beekeeping experiences, natural dye- making and spoon carving workshops, and blacksmithing demonstrations.
