Carmel has built a career spanning more than 30 years in operations, facilities and business support, working across the charity, healthcare, education and commercial sectors. With qualifications including IOSH Managing Safely, an AAT Foundation Certificate, a Six Sigma Yellow Belt and an NVQ in Business & Administration, Carmel is passionate about creating environments where people can do their best work.
As Operations and Facilities Manager, Carmel is responsible for ensuring the Northern Roots operates safely and effectively. She works closely with colleagues and contractors to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the Welcome Building, Forestry Skills Centre and wider site, overseeing facilities management and improving internal processes.
Carmel helps ensure everyone who visits Northern Roots has a positive experience by creating a safe, welcoming environment where people feel supported and encouraged to get involved in our community.
What excites Carmel most about Northern Roots is its ability to bring people, community and nature together to create lasting benefits. She is proud to support a charity that improves health and wellbeing, strengthens communities, and reconnects people with nature and each other.
Outside work, Carmel enjoys spending time outdoors, reading, journalling and taking time to reflect. She is passionate about lifelong learning and is always looking for ways to grow both personally and professionally. Every now and then, you’ll also find her on a dance floor – her favourite way to switch off and have fun.
