Have you heard of the legend of Alda?
Alda was a Viking who established a settlement named Aldehulme (now Oldham) in 865. Oldham was part of the Viking “Danelaw” and was under Viking control for generations after the fierce Battle of Hartshead.
The legend of Alda returned to Oldham, and they brought a fun-filled day of archery, battle re-enactments, Viking crafts such as weaving, woodworking and metal forging, and a selection of delicious meats and mead – perfect for a Viking fresh off the battlefield!
