Into the Wild is a 10-week nature connection programme designed for people living with or recovering from cancer, or with another life-limiting illness. We also welcome carers, family members and loved ones whose wellbeing has been affected.
If you have been significantly impacted by any of the following – persistent poor sleep, low mood, low energy or ongoing feelings of sadness, anxiety or chronic fatigue – you may be eligible to take part.
Based at Northern Roots, our friendly team will lead guided sessions, which may include nature walks, sensory walks, nature crafts, bushcraft, green woodworking, forest bathing, foraging for wild teas, and more.
Important Information
Into The Wild is part of GreenME, an EU-wide research project spanning six countries with Northern Roots as the Urban Case Study. Find out more here.
Into The Wild is a Randomised Control Trial. This means you will be randomly selected to participate in either Group A or Group B. Both are delivered by the same team at different times. We cannot guarantee which group you’ll be in or be able to change your group once it’s randomly assigned. Therefore, to apply you must have availability to attend either Group A or Group B (please see dates and time below).
To support this research, participants will also be asked to complete anonymous wellbeing questionnaires throughout the 10 week programme.
Key Dates
Tuesday 28th April 10:30am – 1pm – Welcome Session for all participants, and Q&A session
You will then be randomly assigned either Group A or B, and we’ll contact you to inform you of your group.
Group A
10 weeks starting Tuesday 5th May 10:30am – 12:30pm, running at the same time every Tuesday up until, and including, Tuesday 7th July.
Group B
10 weeks starting Tuesday 14th July 10:30am – 12:30pm, running at the same time every Tuesday up until, and including, Tuesday 15th September.
