Join our resident bat licenced ecologist Karl to learn about the wonderful world of bats while you build a wooden bat box.
This autumn, support local wildlife while learning new skills. Join us in our Urban Farm, where you’ll learn about different species of bats and how these nocturnal creatures are a vital part of our ecosystem. Then get hands on creating wooden bat boxes for the bats to use through the milder months for years to come. These are easy to make and Karl will guide you through the process.
No previous woodworking skills are needed, just an eagerness to learn! Suitable for both adults and children and includes a 15 minute break with hot drinks and mince pies.
Date and time: Saturday 14th December, 12 midday to 3pm
Tickets available: 8
Price: £15 per ticket
We will be making 8 bat boxes in this workshop, so one bat box per ticket. Children must be aged 10+.
In the days following the workshop Karl will take your bat box into our woodland and place them high in the trees to provide homes for the bats in our woodlands. We will send you pictures of your box in our woodland and in Spring (date TBC), we’ll welcome you back to Northern Roots for a guided dusk walk to see your bat boxes and – fingers crossed – the bats in action!
