Steph Wild

‘’There’s always been a part of me that wanted to connect people to nature. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, intuitively, I went to nature as a way to ground myself and help me heal. I want to help others create that relationship with nature. It’s like all the rivers and streams of my life and work merged together and joined a sea – that sea is Northern Roots.’’ Steph, Natural Health Service Lead

Steph began her career as a touring musician, before transitioning into a role as a freelance creative educator and green wellbeing practitioner.

With over 20 years of experience in mental health, Steph has worked as a creative mentor for young offenders, LGBTQ+ youth, and adults with chronic conditions. She is also a trained ecotherapist and spent more than a decade working as a crisis counsellor. Steph brings her diverse experience and deep compassion to her work at Northern Roots.

Steph creates experiences that nourish personal growth and wellness through deepened connection and reconnection to nature; with a focus on the relationship between taking care of ourselves, taking care of each other and taking care of the planet.

As Northern Roots expands, Steph is dedicated to building an integrated ecosystem of health and wellbeing across the entire site, ensuring that support is accessible to all who need it.

Within the Natural Health Service, Steph leverages the power of nature to uplift spirits, soothe minds, and ignite joy in participants. Her work has led to significant improvements for those experiencing social isolation and depression, including fewer GP visits, enhanced mobility, and a more hopeful outlook on life.
