‘’Northern Roots is already is making a positive impact. We educate children and adults on where food comes from and provide people a sense of belonging in the outdoors and a sense of ownership over their shared green inheritance.’’ Karl, Northern Roots Ranger
Karl has a BSc in Biology and a host of qualifications, including a Level 2 Bat License. Being in nature is a source of joy and peace for Karl, and he carries this through his Ranger role. He supports volunteering groups, helps identify and monitor different species of plants and invertebrates, ensures our ecological activities are successful, and helps plan future proposals for the 160-acre site Northern Roots site.
Karl particularly enjoys the community led aspects of the Northern Roots project, and is keen to share knowledge and experience between staff, volunteers, programme participant and visitors.
