‘’The potential for Northern Roots project is huge and intergenerational. Within the Natural Health Service I want to improve social cohesion by encouraging diverse communities to interact with the common theme of nature.’’ Faiza, Community Outreach Coordinator
Faiza moved to Oldham from London when she was 6 years old and she has studied, worked and raised her family here. With a background in community work and health and wellbeing, Faiza is keen to be a voice for the local South Asian community in Oldham.
She joined Northern Roots in 2023 as a Community Champion on the ‘Beautiful Oldham – Why Not?’ heritage project, taking the opportunity to delve deeper into her personal heritage connection and creating her own story telling project.
During this time, she saw the inspirational work of the Natural Health Service and recognised its potential to provide physical and mental wellbeing benefits to local people. Now, Faiza plays a key role in the Natural Health Service, developing health and wellbeing programs with local community groups and increasing outreach.
Faiza enjoys spending time with her family, staying healthy and learning about traditional Ayurvedic health remedies and way to improve general health.
