Kimo Morrison

“Oldham is a really interesting place with incredible energy, creativity and ideas within its communities and cultural sector. I feel privileged to be able to support opportunities for people to innovate, create, and thrive. People are amazing, they often just need the opportunity and support to be able to shine” Kimo, Communications, Arts and Engagement Lead

Kimo leads on Communications, Arts and Engagement for Northern Roots. She grew up in a very creative household in rural Wales with a family that took her travelling, and to festivals like Glastonbury and WOMAD, from a young age.

Kimo trained as a photographer and filmmaker in London, before working in film and television for a variety of independents and the BBC. Starting out in production, research and script development, she moved into working on organizational culture and talent development, supporting the successful transition of key BBC departments from London to MediaCityUK and the establishment of BBC North.

Before joining Northern Roots, Kimo worked on communications and engagement at RHS Garden Bridgewater – part of a team transforming a derelict 154-acre 19th century estate and walled garden into a visitor destination in the heart of Salford.

Outside of work Kimo juggles being a football mum with playing football and pottering in her garden.
