‘’At Northern Roots we’re creating a culture of green thinking, and my hope is that we lead the way for a healthier and earth aligned future for our local communities. I want people to feel at home and feel ownership of the Northern Roots site, so expect lots of opportunities for learning, upskilling, innovation and community takeovers!’’ Rowan, Creative Producer

Rowan moved to Manchester in 2011 to study at Manchester Metropolitan University and has stayed to build a career in the arts. With varied experience working with Factory International, Odd Arts, Contact Theatre and Oasis Academy Oldham, Rowan sought to use her arts background in an environmental setting and landed her ‘dream role’ as Creative Producer with Northern Roots.

Rowan dreams up and produces our arts and culture programme, working closely with our Growers, Rangers, Social Prescribing team and local people to co-create community events and workshops on the Northern Roots site.

Passionate about climate action and permaculture, Rowan is a volunteer grower, a Vice Chair for a CIC and is currently writing a YA novel about poverty and environmentalism.
