Our volunteering programme

Could you help us lead short walks on Snipe Clough whilst supporting walkers to get involved in a citizen science programme? Our Volunteer Citizen Science Walk Leader role offers an exciting opportunity to join the Northern Roots team on a short 4-week programme to make a difference as part of the Great British Spring Clean 2020.

Northern Roots is creating the UK’s largest urban farm and eco-park on Snipe Clough, 160 acres of beautiful green space in the heart of Oldham, Greater Manchester. We’re at the very start of the journey and want as many people as possible to get involved to help us bring the project to life.

Northern Roots is looking for volunteers who would like to lead local people in a citizen science programme to help us identify litter hotspots and inform where to locate litter bins – whilst getting out and active in the beautiful area of Snipe Clough!

Our Volunteer Citizen Science Walk Leader opportunity will offer you walk leader training. If you enjoy walking, want to help make a difference and help the community be part of a citizen science programme, this could be for you.
