Northern Roots Urban Farm Produce Sales

Our Urban Farm produces sales are back for summer 2024. Join us for every Thursday 3:30 – 6pm for 10 weeks for freshly picked herbs and veg, all proudly grown in Oldham.

We’re excited to throw open the gates and welcome you to the Phase 1 Urban Farm. Our growers and volunteers have been working hard all spring, despite the weather, to ensure a good harvest is available.

Explore the bustling polytunnels and rows of vegetables and pollinator friendly flowers. Bring a picnic and relax in our Greater Manchester Environment Fund community garden with sensory plants. Chat to our growers about all things growing and and learn more about the exciting future of the Northern Roots charity.

Plant, Chaat and Chutney with Tracey and Faiza – FREE Demonstration

Join Oldhamers Tracey and Faiza as they show just how easy is it to grow healthy veg and herbs at home and turn it into a delicious delicious coriander chutney and a traditional South Asian chickpea chaat. Get inspired, grab some freshly harvested veg and take their recipe home to try for yourself! Suitable for all ages.

Book your places for Thursday 1st or Thursday 22nd August at 4 – 4:30pm, via EventBrite.

Meet the Northern Roots Beekeeper

At our Thursday 18th July, 8th and 29th August produce sales, meet beekeeper Damson of Hive 5 Manchester and have all your buzzing questions answered. Watch the bees close up as they work is a display case, learn how honey is made and climb into a beekeeping suit for a picture. The honey you see being made will be available later this year.

Important Information

Each week we’ll have different produce depending on what is ready to harvest. We’ll sell heirloom variety veg you can’t find in your local supermarket, as well as fridge staples you know and love.

We believe healthy, locally grown food should be accessible. We took your feedback from 2023 on board and have more dates, longer sales, a wider variety of veg, and where possible our pricing is cheaper than supermarkets. Heritage variety prices may vary.

All money raised is put back into the Northern Roots project and supports our vision for an urban green space that benefits people, planet and place.

Northern Roots grows using regenerative farming techniques and no chemicals. If we get bumper crops, we’ll add more dates. If we have less produce than expected, we may alter some dates. Follow our social media channels for updates.

Work has already begun on the Phase 2 Urban Farm, an additional four acres of growing space where we’ll showcase upscaled urban and regenerative farming techniques with a focus on providing healthy, locally grown food. Visit our dedicated webpage to learn more –
