Mountain Biking Discovery Day

Calling all mountain bikers …… Northern Roots is hosting a half day event on the morning of Saturday 14th March, inviting local mountain bikers to explore Snipe Clough.  After a morning of testing our site and routes, join us back at the Alexandra Park Hub for a brew and cake and tell us what you think. Your chance to input into the future design of mountain bike trails, as part of the wider Northern Roots cycling project.

Date: Saturday, 14th March
Venue: 9:30 – 12.30 at the Hub, Alexandra Park, Kings Road, Oldham, OL8 2BH
Parking: Free parking available in the Kings Road car park, which is right next to the Alexandra Park Hub

Snipe Clough is 160 acres of semi-wild green space in the heart of Oldham. The site borders Oldham’s award-winning Alexandra Park and extends all the way down past Park Bridge Heritage Centre. With views of Saddleworth Moors and the foothills of the Peak District, the site is a mixture of open moorland, meadow and woodland, with some cracking routes for mountain-bikers.

The Northern Roots team invite you to spend a morning exploring the site and tell us what you think. How can we develop and improve existing trails? What needs to be put in place to make Snipe Clough a top destination for mountain biking? We have no firm plans at this stage, so this is your opportunity to input, share ideas and have your say.

We’d also love you to take photos and video footage of the day, to help us capture and communicate the site’s potential for mountain-biking. So if you’ve got a head-cam that can record what it’s like to ride the existing trails, or you can take pictures of your mates in action, please do share them with us at the end of the session!

All welcome - no need to book, but please drop us a line at northern.roots@oldham.gov.uk to let us know you're coming - and who's coming with you! The Northern Roots team will meet you in the Alexandra Park Kings Road car park, right next to the Alexandra Park Hub. We'll brief you and give you a map of the site, and then provide coffee and cake on your return. Please allow 3 hours for the session. If you’ve got any questions ahead of the event, get in touch with us at northern.roots@oldham.gov.uk
